Ir Prof Andros Chan

Background:
Ir Prof Andros Chan holds a bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering from University of Newcastle upon Tyne. a MBA degree from Bradford University in UK and DBA from Macquarie University in Australia. Prof Chan is the Fellow of Hong Kong Institute of Engineers (HKIE). He is the Vice-Chairman of HKMHDIA (2008-2012) and was the Council Member (2008-2010) of HKIE. He serves as panel member in Discipline Advisory Panel of Bio-Medical Engineering in HKIE. Prof Chan also serves as panel member of Technology Review Panel (Bio-medical Electronics KTI) of the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (2012-2014).

 

He established Pharos Medical Device Ltd in 2005 to manufacture devices and focuses on Medical Lighting and Medical Optics, which comply with FDA and Medical Device Directives of CE. The site is complied with ISO13485 and certified by the SFDA as Medical Device Manufacturer in 2006.

Mr Benjamin Chan

Background:
Mr Benjamin Chan is the Managing Director of MediConcepts Limited, a profession medical device contract manufacturer which also provides project management, design and development, regulatory and compliance supports. MediConcepts Limited is ISO 13485 certified.

Mr Chan is appointed as the Industrial Advisory Committee Member of the B. Eng in Medical Engineering Programme of the Faculty of Engineering, the University of Hong Kong. Mr Chan holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Melbourne, Australia and is a barrister and solicitor in the Australia (non-practicing).

Mr Fred Tung is the Commercial Director of Johnson and Johnson (HK) Limited - Medical Device Division and he has been in the Medical Device Industry since 1993.

Background:
Ms Maria Chiang has started her career in machinery mould and steel industries after obtaining a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from the University of Massachusetts Lowell in 1988. As the Managing Director of Chen Chien Holdings Ltd., she oversees and directs the company business in all aspects. With Ms Chiang’s diligence and dedication, Chen Chien has been developed remarkably and has been successfully appointed as the sole agents of Hitachi Metals and Arcelor Group Industeel since 1998 and 2000 respectively.

Chen Chien has invested its own manufacturing plant in Shenzhen for production of high quality mould bases to worldwide customers. Besides investing in China, Ms Chiang also participates in business organizations actively and has committed herself in community and public services. For years she has shown much concern and has given great support to the development of China.

 

Ms Martha Hao

Background:
Ms Martha Hao is the Head of Division of Electro-Mechanical Modules at Defond Electrical Industries Ltd. Defond offers a comprehensive range of value added design and manufacturing services to our customers with a competitive advantage in terms of technology, quality, time-to-market, design and cost. To cope with the special requirements of producing medical and health care products, Defond has established a specialist team and a dedicated production workshop with appropriate mindset and tools to meet the requirements of both the standards and our customers.

 

Ms Teresa Li

Qualifications:
Ms Teresa Li holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree in Management Studies  and Economics from the University of Hong Kong.

 

Background:
Ms Teresa Li has been in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries for over  20 years. She found Kingsford Far East Ltd in 2012, and is currently the Director and General Manager of the company. Kingsford Far East Ltd specializes in the distribution of hospital equipment, home use medical device and rehabilitation products. The company has acquired ISO9001 and ISO13485 certification.

Mr Kevin Orr

Background: 
Mr Orr joined Winner Medical Group in 2002, and appointed as Managing Director of Winner Medical (Hong Kong) Limited and Group Management Committee Member in 2008.


Mr Orr worked in a major retailing group in Canada prior joining the group in 2002, and has substantial experience in corporate management, public health, and medical devices & personal care industry. Mr Orr holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in concentration of Economics from University of Victoria, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Hong Kong Polytechnic University. Mr Orr won a Gold Medal Award in Eureka* Brussels 2005 of the 54th World Exhibition of Innovation, Research and New Technology in Belgium at the age of 26, thereafter he received an Excellent Innovator Award of China Enterprise Innovation Forum in Beijing in 2010.

 

Mr Orr is the Director of Hubei Province Chinese Overseas Friendship Association, Standing Committee Member of Hubei Youth Federation, Executive Director of Hong Kong United Youth Association, and the Chairman of Medical Services & Executive Director of The Origin Charity Foundation.

Ir Dr William Cheung

Background:
Ir Dr William Cheung is Executive Director of Allan International Holdings Limited. Prior to this position, he was involved in the group’s research & development, quality, production, and marketing activities. He obtained his BSc.(Eng) degree in Computing Science at Imperial College London and  also holds a PhD degree in Robotics ( University of Bristol). He is also an active member of the Hong Kong Electrical Appliances Industries Association and is currently the Vice-President  of the HKEAIA. Furthermore, he is member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, and also member of the Biomedical Division of HKIE.

 

Mr Mark Ho

Background:
Mark started his career as a Biomedical Engineer at the Alfred Group of Hospitals in Melbourne in 1987, after obtaining his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering from University of Melbourne, Australia. 

From 1993, he took up sales and marketing roles for various products ranging from pacemakers/ICDs, monitoring equipment to ultrasound in Hong Kong. He worked in a Regional role since 1996 in cardiac ultrasound; and later involved in product development before joining Pacific Medical Systems Ltd in 2005.

 

Ir. Calvin Koh

Background:
Mr. Koh Ming Fai (許明輝) has been the Executive Director of the Company since March 2016. Mr. Koh also served as the Assistant General Manager of the Group. He joined the Group in September 2000 and is primarily responsible for managing the operations of the Group, including marketing, quality assurance, production, engineering, and procurement of the Group.

 

Mr. Koh received a bachelor’s degree in science in mechanical engineering from University of Alberta, Canada and a master’s degree in business from the University of Newcastle, Australia. He is a member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers and he was admitted as a member of the biomedical discipline of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineer through the founding member route in January 2007. He is also a professional engineer (biomedical) registered with the Engineers Registration Board, a body corporate established under the Engineers Registration Ordinance (Chapter 409 of the Laws of Hong Kong). He is also elected as a member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, UK and was registered as a chartered engineer in April 2008.

 

Mr Henry Lam

Background:
Mr Henry Lam is a Qualified Accountant. Mr Lam is the co-founder and Managing Director of Associated Medical Supplies Company Limited (AMS). AMS was established in 1981 with its Head Office in Hongkong and branches in China. AMS is specialized in bringing in niche medical devices and reference instruments made in the USA and Europe for various disciplines for distribution in the Greater China Region. AMS is also engaged in distribution of pharmaceuticals, biologics, re-agents and medical disposables. Taking advantage of the unique geographical position of Hongkong AMS also acts as Regional Service Centres for its principals. AMS is ISO9001 certified and one of its subsidiaries in Hongkong holds ISO13485 certificate for development and production of point-of-care rapid diagnostic test instruments. An affiliated company of AMS develops and produces biologics for the research markets in the USA and Europe.


Mr James Li

Background:
Mr James Li has been working in electronic and medical device industries over thirty years. He started his career as an electronic design engineer in electronic products. Afterwards, he grasped the opportunity to enter into manufacturing operation and management, and then stepped in the top management work progressively. He gained various experiences and acquired the knowledge in many different product technologies and manufacturing areas which involved in electronic/RF products, industrial control products, electrical home appliances, medical plastics, healthcare products and medical devices, etc. 

Mr James Li is working in AML as a Division General Manager and in charge two divisions - Telecom and Office Equipments; Medical and Healthcare devices. He has deeply involved in the quality and manufacturing system such as TQM, Lean manufacturing, Lean Sigma, Zero Defect Management and ISO. And also, he has been building up a quality culture and teamwork in the organization; foster the team to upgrade the system and achieve the awards recognition. In response to the needs of the global medical product market, the company got FDA, China-SFDA and producing many different healthcare and medical products for its customers continuously. 

In view of the strategic direction, Mr James Li is leading the team to pursuing the advance technology products development and manufacturing, aims to enhance the competitiveness in this field.

 

Mr Leo Lo

Background:
Mr. Lo is the Managing Director of EuroMed Technologies Co., Ltd. which was established in 2009 with major business in hospital automation systems for inbound logistics and an exclusive distributor for various hi-end medical equipment. Mr. Lo is also a member of the Institution of Engineering & Technology, UK; a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, as well as a Chartered Marketer.

 

Mr. Lo has served as a member of the Corporate Communications Panel of the Association since 2011 and becomes the panel chairman this term. He also actively participated in various local undergrad mentorship programs since 2002 including PolyU, CityU, HKUST, CUHK, and HKU.

 


 
Dr. Eddie So

Background:
Dr. Eddie So holds a B.Sc. and Ph.D. degree in biochemistry and human physiology. After graduate study at the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2000, Eddie has been working for the biomedical industry (biotechnology, medical device, nutraceuticals and pharmaceuticals) for almost 16 years. In most recent 10 years, Eddie focuses to provide comprehensive support to starts up company for medical device commercialization in the Greater China region.

 

Dr. So was also an elected Executive Board member and served as panel head for Education and Training at HKMHDIA between 2009 and 2010.

 


 
Mr Samson Tsoi

Background:
Samson Tsoi is the Executive Board member of Hong Kong Medical and Healthcare Device Industries Association since 2015. He will be heading the Quality and Regulatory Affairs Panel in the new term 2017-2018. Samson is also the Honorary President of The Hong Kong Health Food Association. Professionally, Samson is a registered Pharmacist and has been working in the Healthcare and Medical Trading & Distribution Industry for over twenty five years. He is now the Senior Vice President of LF Asia (Healthcare, HK & Macau) which is a member of the DCH Holdings.

 


 
Mr. William Yim

Background:
Mr. William Yim studied electronics and electrical engineering at Hong Kong Polytechnic. He has intensive knowledge and experience on electronics assembly technology, micro joining technology, advanced laser processing technologies, printed functionality for electronics, microelectronics, semiconductor, optoelectronics, biomedical and other advanced manufacturing industries. Mr. Yim is also a knowledgeable expert in production engineering, product design, strategic business planning and management.

 

Mr. Yim actively participates in industrial, technological and social affairs. Mr. Yim was the founding senior vice president of Hong Kong Optoelectronics Association; founding member of Hong Kong Electronics and Technology Association; founding member of Hong Kong Intelligent Transport System Association; founding member of Hong Kong Practical Philosophy Society. At present, he is the President of Hong Kong Critical Components Manufacturers Association; Vice Chairman and Technology Sub-committee Chairman of Hong Kong Electronics & Technologies Association; Deputy Chairman of Hong Kong Federation of Innovative Technologies and Manufacturing Industrial Limited; Vice President and Secretary General of Hong Kong Opto-Mechatronics Industry Association; President of Rotary Club of Tai Po, District 3450. Mr. Yim is also one of the advisors to HKTDC Electronics / Electrical Appliances Industries Advisory Committee, Science Faculty Advisory Committee of Hong Kong Baptist University, and the Manufacturing Technology (Tooling, Metal and Plastic) Industry Training Advisory Committee (ITAC) of Education Bureau, the Government of the Hong Kong SAR.

Background:
Dr John Chai received the degrees of Master Jurisprudence and Doctors of Law from Loyola University Chicago, Master of Science from Northwestern University and Fellow, Hong Kong Academy of Medicine. As a qualified medical health care professional, he has also been awarded fellowship to several professional organizations. Dr Chai is presently a Professor Emeritus of Northwestern University.

Dr Chai currently is Managing Director of Fook Tin Group Holdings Ltd.

Fook Tin specializes in design, manufacturing, marketing and the global distribution of professional magnitude sensors, professional and semi-professional scales, consumer scales, industrial scales, health care devices, medical devices and electronic appliances and so on.

Dr Chai has been instrumental in improving Fook Tins financial, legal, research and corporate management. Under his direction, Fook Tins integrated management system was qualified to the standards of ISO 9001, ISO 13485, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 and Fook Tin is the first company in the world to be certified with IECQ QC 080000 HSPM (an International Electrotechnical Commission Quality Assessment Scheme for Electronic Components Industry) in 2006.

Background:
Mr. Siu started his nursing profession in Queen Elizabeth Hospital in 1977. His main duties were providing nursing care to patients, supervising subordinates in providing bedside care, executing sterile services management, ward administration and professional training. In 2001, Mr. Siu's career took another leap forward in joining the Business Support Services Department in Hospital Authority Head Office. He applied his nursing knowledge and experience to assist in developing and updating procurement manual, procedures and policies for the Hospital Authority, leading a procurement team for all procurement activities. Mr. Siu retired in 2010.

After retirement, Mr. Siu is active in training, consultancy and voluntary services in variety of public and private organizations.

Mr Nicholas Chan is a Partner with the international law firm Squire, Sanders & Dempsey, established in year 1890 with 31 offices and over 800 lawyers world wide. His core practice areas include life science, intellectual property, manufacturers’s liability, venture capital, commercial, competition, information technology and telecommunications. Nick regularly advises clients on projects in Australia, Canada, U.K., U.S., China, Hong Kong SAR and in over a dozen countries in the Asia Pacific. His clients include governments (e.g. on initiatives to commercialize university research and draft competition laws) and private sector clients (e.g. US$10 billion global merger and acquisition). Nick is the recipient of the AT&T Asia/Pacific President’s Award, the highest form of performance recognition in the AT&T organization, where he served on secondment with regional responsibilities. Nick is named in the AsiaLaw Leading Lawyers 2004 as one of the top lawyers in Asia in recognition of his expertise in a wide array of practices spanning: Corporate Restructuring, Intellectual Property, IT & Telecommunications, Labour & Employment, and Mergers & Acquisitions.
